Dates of EstablishmentSandscape Publications, the publishing house of Skyblue Productions, was founded by Valarie Morris in 1994 to publish her print music, including sheet music and music books. Skyblue Productions was founded in 1989 by Ms. Morris in the San Francisco Bay Area to produce recordings of her music.
CommissionsSandscape Publications is now accepting commissions for new works by Valarie Morris. The World Premiere of "Voices of Shekhinah: Four Illuminations", a commission for orchestra and vocalists, was performed in November 2005 by the Tifereth Israel Orchestra. Arrangements of various Scott Joplin tunes are commissioned by The Scott Joplin International Ragtime Foundation for their annual festivals.
Music PublicationValarie Morris composes music for all levels of players, from beginners to professionals, for all types of instruments and for ensembles of all sizes, including big bands and orchestras. In 2004, Sandscape Publications expanded its operations to publish music of other composers.
Music InstructionValarie Morris teaches privately and also offers classes and workshops. Private instruction is available for piano, saxophone, clarinet, accordion, flute, composition, and arranging.
International AirplayMusic from CDs produced by Skyblue Productions has been aired in Bucuresti in Romania; London and Kingston, Ontario in Canada; Brussels and Gent in Belgium; Toulouse, France; Viitasaari, Finland; Freudenstadt, Baiersbronn, Munich, Nordspessart, Bayersbronn, and Osnabruck in Germany; and Cortina D'Ampezzo, Rome, South Tyrol, and Torino in Italy.
BMI and ASCAP AffiliationsValarie Morris is a writer member of BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.), one of the major performing rights organizations. Sandscape Publications is a publishing member of BMI and ASCAP.
LocationSandscape Publications and Skyblue Productions are now located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment. The companies recently moved from El Sobrante, a small, unincorporated town in the East Bay where horses and cows graze on the hills and miniature horses clack down the street. The town also has its fair share of goats, a few llamas, and lots of singing birds.
