Special Performances of Compositions


February 2 and September 9, 2011. "The 8-Minute Genetically-Modified Opera," commissioned by William Ballowe and Elizabeth Mitchell in 2008, was performed by the Amhran Trio, with soprano Louise Mendiu, John Hargreaves (horn), and Cindy Little (piano). In February, the trio performed in Los Alamos for the Brown Bag Series at Fuller Lodge during zero-degree weather, and in September they performed at the TGIF Recital Series at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe.

May 8, May 21, May 23, and June 4, 2010. "Memories from the Continents," a work commissioned and performed by The Santa Fe Flute Choir, directed by Carol Redmon, was performed at Johnson's Art Gallery in Madrid (May 8), the First Presbyterian Church (May 21), Pecos Gallery in Pecos (May 23), and Music on Barcelona in Santa Fe (June 4).

January 2, 2009. "The 8-Minute Genetically-Modified Opera," a work commissioned by vocalist Elizabeth Mitchell and horn player William Ballowe, was performed by the commissioners and pianist Glen Smerage at Music on Barcelona in Santa Fe.

June 27 and September 13, 2008. "Doors," "Nodes and Codes," and "Circus" performed by Santa Fe Brass at Music on Barcelona (June) and at The Johnsons of Madrid Galleries (September).

September 28, 2007. Woodwind quintet "Cloud Dances" and two new string quartets, "Opening Night," commissioned by Roberta Mandel, and "Propaganda," were premiered at Music on Barcelona in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

November 12 and 15, 2005. World Premiere of "Voices of Shekhinah: Four Illuminations" at New Tamid Synagogue and Tifereth Israel Synagogue. Performed by the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra, conducted by David Amos.

2004. "October" from "What a Year!" performed in a Singapore film.

2004. Airplay by Taiwan radio station of "April" from "What a Year!" and "Shark" from "Animal Anthology: Water Play".

December 2004. "Winter Cheer" performed by the Auburn High School Choir, New York.

September 26, 2004. Minnesota Ballet Performance For Children at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center: "Blue Jay", "Ostrich", and "Parrot" from "Animal Anthology: Flights of Fancy", "Whale" from "Animal Anthology: Water Play", and "Gazelle" from "Animal Anthology: Land Lovers."

April 5, 2003. World Premiere of "Symphony of Light and Shadows" performed by the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Michael Morgan. Pre-concert lecture by Valarie Morris.

September 15, 2001. "Serenade" and "Celebration of Love" performed for and composed as wedding gifts.

February 13, 1999. Reading by the Marin Symphony of "Symphony of Light and Shadows" at the Bay Area Composers' Competition Contest Symposium. Conducted by Gary Sheldon.

March 3, 1999. Musica delle Donne, A Celebration of Music by Women Composers. Performance of "Five Movements". Music Director Dann Zinn. Hayward, CA.

1999 NPR's All Things Considered. "Funk", "Do a Duet", "Overcast", "Shabbat", and "Good Morning, Rachel".

June 11, 1998. "Past Eleven" performed for and composed as a wedding gift.

1996 Awards Banquet for the STC Northern California Technical Communications Competition. Music composed for the banquet's multimedia presentation is recorded on TransFormations CD.

1992 Yoshi's Jazz Club. Saxophone ensemble performance of "Full Moon", "Scrumptious", and arrangement of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat". Berkeley, CA.

1989. "CircumVention" dramatization featuring Kike Adedeji as narrator and Chris Mueller's choreography with clarinet quartets performed by Clarinoya. All tunes on CircumVention album. Mills College.

1988 Music for Megan Terry's play, "The Gloaming, O My Darling", UC Berkeley Summer Playhouse (flute, bassoon, piano, violin, percussion).

Performances of "As Almost Anyone" with choreographer Mary Reid, "Overcast" and "Improv 2" with choreographer Marcy Risque, and "Between Time" with choreographer Kitty Luce. Also instrumentals "Full Moon" and "Five Movements" performed by the Adolphe Saxophone Ensemble, vocal/piano "Bilderdijkstraat", "Scrambled Eggs", and "Sunnyside Up" plus electronic tunes "Waltz", "Sunday 1", and "Contortions".
